Dear Friend,
Trying to stay warm in the winter without driving up your energy bill can be a difficult task, but not an impossible one. Putting some strategies into place now can help keep your utility bill manageable all season. Some ideas are low-cost - others may take a small investment. But with a little common sense, hard work, and smart purchases, you can stay warm this season without racking up a huge energy bill. In this edition of On Track we'll examine some ideas for managing your winter utility bills to stay within your budget.
Keeping Warm in the Winter - Without Spending a Bundle

Quick Quote In most parts of the country, utility usage rises in the winter months. This isn't surprising since with less daylight and colder weather we spend more time indoors, so the need for heating, water heating, and lighting is greatest during these months. Of course, this also means that the accompanying utility bills rise as well. You can't do anything to change the temperature outside, but with a little bit of planning and effort, you can take steps to keep you comfortable while you're inside without spending a fortune.

Will it still be possible for me to pay on my accounts with my creditors while on the program, or will I have to always go through the program to pay them off?

- Adam

  Hi Adam.

You may increase your payment on the program on a month-to-month basis or if you desire a set increase may also be arranged. All payments should be made through the DMP or the lower interest and other benefits may not apply.

Hope this helps.

Michel.

Tip JarTip Jar -
Setting Your Thermostat for Winter - During cold, winter months, 36% of your energy bill comes from keeping your house heated. Don't be a heat "hog." Your heating bill will increase by 3% every time you raise your heat by just one degree when you set the thermostat at 71 degrees or higher. That's a lot of money for just a little more heat. The point of this Pointer: To keep your utility bills "cool" and your house "warm", keep your thermostat at a comfortable 69 degrees.
