Kansas Residents Seeking Relief from More Debt

The providers of CareOne Debt Relief Services® understand the stress that comes with being in debt, because many of us have been there ourselves. Even our founder, Bernie Dancel has been in your shoes. We know what it takes to get out of debt and it’s why we are so passionate about helping others find a way out too.

We hear from Kansas residents every day about how difficult it is in today’s economy to make ends meet. In fact, our internal data shows that the average amount of debt reported by residents of Kansas seeking debt relief increased 26% from 2010 to 2011. There could be many reasons for this, but it is probably a reflection of the national economy as a whole. Kansas does boast the 13th lowest unemployment rate in the nation1; however, the median household income in Kansas is 5% lower than the national average according to the U.S. Census2.

Our data also shows a 39% increase in the number of young people in Kansas between the ages of 18 and 24 seeking debt relief.3 Student loan debt may be a contributing factor to this increase as 57% of Kansas students are carrying student loan debt. The average amount owed is $22,280, the 29th highest in the nation3. If the high cost of education is to blame for the increase, there may be relief available for those Kansas graduates who choose to relocate to certain areas of the state that have experienced a decrease in population. The state has allocated one million dollars for a program that offers as much as $15,000 toward student-loan repayment for people who relocate to areas suffering from population declines4. While this may help defray the cost of their student loans, other Kansas students may still have to contend with high credit card debt accrued while trying to establish their adult lives.

Regardless of the cause, many Kansas residents are seeking information on debt consolidation and we understand why. Many of us have faced similar financial challenges and we understand what it’s like to struggle with debt. But, more importantly we know how to overcome it. That’s why we’re committed to helping you work toward a debt-free future. Our Certified Personal Finance Counselors® can help you find a personalized solution that works within your budget.
