Use Your Talents to Earn Fast Cash

There comes a time in every college student's education when he or she will need some extra cash - and fast. Maybe your car breaks down or your cat gets sick. Whatever the circumstances are, there are ways to earn cash without having a part time job.

Can you write, design or take beautiful photos? One of the easiest ways to make some extra dollars on the side is to put your talents to work. If you're a photographer, you can get paid to take headshots of student actors or try to rent out your services for weddings or other special events.

Freelance Jobs

If you're a writer or a designer, you can freelance your services. When it comes to making money, it's always best-and easiest-to utilize your talents first. Not only will you make extra cash, but you can build your résumé and start networking-you never know what your freelanced articles might get you down the road.

Plus, you get to use skills learned in class and hone them in real-life situations.  Capitalizing on your talents can help you out much more in the long run than just a couple of extra bucks in your pocket now.

If you're a graphic designer, you can find freelance jobs with local companies. Other talents that you can bank on include singing, sewing, accounting, drawing and acting. It just takes a little bit of imagination and ingenuity to discover ways to turn your talents into dollars.

Make Money Fast With These Jobs

  • Become a magician for little kid's birthday parties.
  • Do other students' taxes for extra money.
  • Help design a company logo.
  • Sing at weddings.
  • Become a personal trainer.
  • Make or tailor garments.
  • Tutor other students.

Other (not so fun) Ways to Make Extra Money

If you can't sing or write to save your life, or maybe you just really need some spending money, there are other ways to earn a little extra that may not be so fun.

  • Give plasma. You can donate blood once a month for about $40. You're not only making money but also doing some good.
  • Participate in research studies or trials. You can make money to test out new prescriptions or just answer a few questions. Look on Craigslist to find studies in your area.
  • Model for the art department. Just remember, sometimes they only want nude models.
  • Have a car wash. Hey, it worked for high school booster clubs, didn't it?
