Self Assessment Tests

What's Your Learning Style? "Perception"

Each of us has a different background and any number of strengths and weaknesses. All of the variables that go into building our characters also produce an unlimited gamut of learning styles. What one person might notice, understand, and be able to use might be totally different from someone else.

Assessment is the first step in providing useful recommendations to improve how you can assimilate information, which you’ll be doing a lot of in college!

  • The primary idea behind identifying your learning style is to effectively use the tools you were born with.
  • Secondly, to find out which areas you could improve.
  • Thirdly, to help identify these traits in others so everyone can work together more smoothly (a good team has a mixture of complimentary learning styles).

After you examine some of your preferences and habits, you can make a more informed choice of school environments, teaching styles, and ways to participate in class, for instance.

One example of a good learning style evaluation is the Felder-Silverman Learning Style Model which says that each of us has four varying aspects to our particular learning style: Input, Perception, Understanding, and Processing.

This self-assessment test focuses on "Perception,” or your preferences for the type of information you receive.  For instance, do you go for hard, cold facts or more for interpretations and theories?
