Did you know that you're eligible to receive credit for your Air Force training through the Community College of the Air Force if you're currently an active duty Air Force Guard or are an enlisted member with the Air Force Reserve?  The CCAF is the only 2-year institution exclusively serving enlisted personnel. It's a worldwide, multi-campus institution-the largest community college in the world. Academic credit for CCAF is earned at technical schools, duty stations and college campuses.

Degrees Earned in the US Air Force Community College

Specific degree programs are designed to provide students with the background to perform as technical experts and competent supervisors in their fields. The college awards students with an applied science degree after they successfully complete a degree program designed for an Air Force specialty.

Areas of study include:

  • Aircraft and Missile Maintenance
  • Allied Health
  • Electronics and Telecommunications
  • Logistics and Resources
  • Public and Support Services

Within these 5 broad areas, the CCAF currently offers 67 specific degree programs. Students earn 64 credit hours through courses at the CCAF and receive an Air Force Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree. The CCAF offers also other academic credentials that enhance mission readiness, and it supports the career transitions of Air Force enlisted members.

Transfer to a 4-year College from the Community College of the Air Force

In June 2007, Air University announced a new program in which four-year colleges accept the entire value of the CCAF Associate's degree towards a Bachelor's degree - requiring only 60 more credits - typically upper division and core classes. This program is called the Air University Associate-To-Baccalaureate Cooperative. It is a convenient way for an Airman to complete his/her 4-year degree.

It has also served to boost the desirability of a CCAF degree, as there exists a misconception among the enlisted members that a CCAF Associate degree only holds value in the Air Force community. However, most of the colleges and universities participating in the program are regionally accredited.
