BusinessWeek Details the Best Places to Launch a Career

Students, cherish this time in college for all you can. Because getting a job’s always been tough right out of school, but right now it’s darn near impossible to pick up a little bit of gainful employment. Since 2007 the United States economy has cut down 6.7 million jobs in the wake of the recession.

Those lucky enough to find jobs have been thrown into situations they wouldn’t have thought possible ten years ago. Most of the jobs shed in the past year and a half were entry level positions, and recent grads are now getting their professional feet wet in job roles far more demanding and diverse than their age range is accustomed to - despite the fact that they're not making as much as recent grads were a few years ago.

The good news? Those who do outlast the recession should be in line for a pretty solid promotion once funds start rolling in. The bad? Uhhh, remember that thing about the 6.7 million jobs going bye-bye twenty-two months ago? Keep that in mind every time you watch another couple million seniors walk across the podium every May.

But wait! There’s more good news! The fine folks over at BusinessWeek Magazine just went to press with their 4th Annual Best Places to Launch a Career Issue, and it’s got all kinds of tips and tools for you to put to good use as you go about thinking where you’d like to send in your résumés and job applications.

The specifics concerning how BusinessWeek puts together these rankings can get a little confusing, but facts are facts, and the makers of this feature did a great job laying each fact right on the table. Full details and a slideshow of the Top Employers for Grads can be found inside, but the feature’s entire offerings also detail everything from Employer Profiles to Why New Grads Love Cisco.
