If you're currently looking to buy a home, don't rely on your mortgage lender to tell you everything—especially when it comes to hidden fees and charges. Ask any potential lender for a complete list of closing costs, and add them all up so you know what you're really paying. Closing costs may include mortgage insurance, home insurance, and loan origination fees, and generally range from 3% to 8% of the total loan amount.
